Best Wyze Deals

After several years of testing Wyze security cameras and video doorbells, we can confidently recommend them to anyone on a limited budget. The no-frills, affordable approach extends to the Wyze app and cloud storage.

There are better video doorbells, but the Wyze Video Doorbell Pro (7/10, WIRED Recommends) is your best option under $100. It's easy to install, can be wired or rely on a battery, and comes with a plug-in chime that doubles as a Wi-Fi extender. The sharp picture picks up details and helps you recognize familiar faces, though there's a fish-eye effect. The Cam Plus subscription ($2 a month or $20 a year) unlocks cloud recordings and person detection and is an essential extra.

Our favorite budget outdoor security camera offers reasonably high-quality footage (1080p, 20 frames per second) and is IP65 rated, so it can survive in virtually any weather. You can set motion detection zones, and it boasts color night vision. This camera connects wirelessly to an indoor base station that you must plug into your router with an Ethernet cable (supplied). You can insert microSD cards into the camera or base station for local storage. Wyze suggests up to six months of battery life (we found it was closer to three months), although the next entry here can help.

It’s tough to predict how long the battery in your Wyze Cam Outdoor v2 will last, because it depends on how busy the area is. Ours struggled to go three months between charges. When it runs out, you need to bring it inside to charge, which means downtime, or take a portable charger out to plug in. Either option is a hassle. Snag this Wyze solar panel with a 13-foot weatherproof cable so you don't need to worry about charging your camera again.

Note: This solar panel is compatible only with the Wyze Cam Outdoor v1 or v2.

Wyze Bulb

It may be known primarily for security cameras, but Wyze offers a complete smart-home range, including affordable smart bulbs. These dimmable A19 bulbs screw into E26 sockets. You can change the brightness and tune the temperature, match the sunlight outside based on the time of day, schedule them to turn on and off, or use voice controls with Alexa or Google Assistant.

The Wyze Cam v3 is cheap and made the honorable mentions list in our outdoor and indoor security camera guides. But if you plan to use it as an outdoor camera, you will likely need to buy a suitable cable (the one in the box is not weatherproof or long enough). The Wyze Outdoor Power Adapter v1 works with the Wyze Cam v3 and the OG series. This nearly 13-foot cable scores an IP67 weather resistance rating and comes with the wire clips and screws you need to fit it.
